If you were to choose one area where you could have absolutely no growth from now till life, what would it be?
For me, it would be my professional or financial growth.
Seems counter intuitive, doesn’t it? Well, let me breakdown the logic behind my seemingly illogical answer.
So what are the other options that you could choose from?
KNOWLEDGE – The speed with which the world is changing, you certainly would always need to upskill yourself. If not for professional reasons, for personal ones definitely. Things like learning how to use the internet, have basic understanding of taxes (I am yet to crack this one) or even about your history. You need to always keep learning.
HEALTH – To live a healthy life is a blessing that far less appreciate. Because we take being able to normally function for granted. It’s an oft-repeated but obligatory adage – all the money in the world but you need to live to spend it.
LOVE & FAMILY – Good grades and great spades. But what’s the point if you don’t have people to share it with? This is perhaps the most important one that you would never want to stop growing. You can never have too many people who are your support system, always be grateful for them.
So before we make all those new year resolutions of smashing office run-rates or adding another zero to the bank account, maybe we really ought to think how we are growing as a person rather than our paychecks.
This of course may not apply to those working hard to ensure they have the bare minimum to support growth in upskilling, health and family. But for the rest of the majority who already have the income to sustain yourself and your family, how do you want to grow as a person this year?
