“Forget your troubles and dance.”
– Bob Marley
There is some magic in the music.
The way it sneaks up on you, when you don’t even know, you don’t even notice.
Yet your heart does, and it hears the hope within the notes,
the beats behind the baritones.
And then slowly, you start swaying.
Unknowingly. Unconsciously. Unfalteringly.
Because you know this is what has been making you restless – to dance without a rest.
The words are hard to choose to express what you feel. Because what you feel cannot be contained in a word. Because what you feel is uncontainable joy.
You hear the first notes,
and your body obeys, your soul liberates.
It lifts you onto you, above and beyond. Hello Alice in the wonderland of dance!
Where troubles drink the ‘Drink Me’ potion and shrink,
and the thrill resides in each bite of the ‘Eat Me’ cake.
It may but seem like a child’s fantasy but that’s how I like to dance,
Like I am in a fantastic world, where I don’t dance like no watching is watching me,
but as if the whole world is mine.
At least for those few blissful minutes till the sound fades away,
and silence prevails.
Till the fantasy dissipates,
leaving behind a realism that threatens to disintegrate.
But I must say, there is some magic in the music.
